    Dr. Vandana Bhide is a Director of Physician Advisory Services at a 5 community hospital network in Phoenix, Arizona, where she is a clinical assistant professor at University of Arizona College of Medicine and clinical assistant professor at Creighton University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Muncie is Board certified in Family Medicine and certified in Addiction Medicine. He previously served as the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Maryland. He then joined the faculty at LSU School of Medicine New Orleans. He served as the Director of Medical student education at LSU and worked as family physician. He also worked in several Emergency Rooms in Louisiana.

Statement of Need

This course will cover topics pertinent to primary health care providers including updates in general internal medicine, substance abuse, physician wellness, mental health conditions, anemia, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, clostridium difficile, treatment of cirrhosis and complications, sexually transmitted disease, osteoporosis, venous thromboembolism and dealing with difficult patients. Content will provide a well-rounded interprofessional educational experience from various aspects of care management.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity clinicians should be able to:

  • Summarize recent updates, clinical studies, and new guidelines that impact practice in primary care.
  • Develop strategies regarding the evaluation and management of internal medicine diseases.
  • Evaluate clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of common and uncommon conditions critical to the practice of internal medicine
